In the whole year, the sown area of grain crops was 6.454 million hectares, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2%; the sown area of oil crops was 1.298 million hectares, a year-on-year increase of 1.0%; the sown area of Chinese medicinal herbs was 112,000 hectares, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%; and the sown area of vegetables was 1.35 million hectares, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%.
In the whole year, the total grain output was 34.428 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.0%, including a yield increase of 1.9% in summer harvest crops and a yield increase of 2.0% in autumn harvest crops. Among economic crops, the yield of oil plants was 3.076 million tons, up by 2.2%; the yield of tobaccos was 222,000 tons, down by 1.0%; the yield of vegetables was 42.408 million tons, up by 4.2%; the yield of tea was 248,000 tons, up by 6.2%; the yield of orchard fruit was 8.065 million tons, up by 6.2%; and the yield of Chinese medicinal herbs was 439,000 tons, up by 3.7%.
In the whole year, there were 72.365 million hogs ready for slaughter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.8%; 2.955 million cattle ready for slaughter, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%; 16.98 million sheep ready for slaughter, a year-on-year increase of 4.0%; and 661.549 million poultry ready for slaughter, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%. Egg production increased by 0.9% and milk production decreased by 4.7%.
In the whole year, annual afforestation area of barren hills and wastelands (sand) was 292,000 hectares. Wherein, the completed natural forest resources protection projects covered an area of 52,000 hectares; the completed returning farmland to forest projects covered an area of 72,000 hectares; and at the end of year, the actual forest management and protection area reached 17.71 million hectares. At the end of the year, there were 43 wetland parks throughout Sichuan Province, including 19 provincial wetland parks and 24 national wetland parks. At the end of the year, the forest coverage rate was 36.02%, a year-on-year increase of 0.26 percent points.
In the whole year, annual aquaculture area reached 202,000 hectares, a year-on-year increase of 1.5%; annual output of aquatic products reached 1.387 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%.
The effective irrigation area of farmland was newly increased by 68,000 hectares in the whole year and the effective irrigation area was 2.734 million hectares at the end of the year. In the whole year, the area under comprehensive management of water loss and soil erosion was newly increased by 230,000 hectares, and thus annual accumulated area under comprehensive management of water loss and soil erosion was 8.389 million hectares. The drinking-water lacking problem for 4.71 million people was addressed. The total power of agricultural machinery was newly increased by 2.401 million kilowatts, and thus at the end of the year, the total power of agricultural machinery was 44.002 million kilowatts, up by 5.8%. Annual rural electricity consumption was 17.48 billion kilowatt-hours, up by 3.1%
