In the full year, the province's special funds for technological renovation and transformation and upgrading (the directions of industrial energy and water saving and elimination of backward production capacity) were used for a total of 75 industrial energy and water saving construction and green low carbon development demonstration projects, including 31 energy-saving projects, 12 water-saving projects, 3 energy efficiency improvement projects, 17 demonstration projects of circular economy, 1 energy-saving and water-saving environmental protection technology and product industrialization projects, 9 green energy projects and 2 clean production (haze control) projects.

In the year, the province allocated a special fund of RMB870 million for environmental protection, which were used to complete 444 projects for governance of industrial enterprises, including 127 industrial smoke and dust control projects, 77 projects for governance of industrial volatile organic compounds, 30 projects for comprehensive treatment of heavy metal pollution and 210 projects for cleaner production audits. The environmental governance against 11 key small watersheds has been carried out in full swing, where the target of eliminating V-category water quality in 30 rural centralized drinking water sources serving over 5,000 persons.

As at the end of the year, the province had 169 nature reserves, covering an area of 84,000 square kilometers, accounting for 17.35% of the province's land area. At the end of the year, there were 15 state-level ecological counties (districts) and 48 provincial-level ecological counties (cities and districts).

In the year, there were 1,843 work safety accidents in fields of road traffic, mining and trade, railway traffic and agricultural machinery, in which 1,030 persons were dead, a year-on-year decrease of 18.2% and 15.9% respectively. Since 2001, the number of work safety accidents and the number of deaths therefrom continued to decline, the province suffered from no major accident throughout the year for the first time. The death toll of work safety accidents per RMB100 million total output value was 0.100, down 10.4%; the death toll of work safety accidents per 100,000 employees of the industrial and mining trade was 0.899, down 23.1%; the death toll per 10,000 vehicles of road traffic was 1.843, a decrease of 6.2%; that in million tons of coal production was 0.803, down 4.1%.
