Spain to Set up Consulate General in Chengdu

 According to the latest information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese government has reached an agreement with the government of the Kingdom of Spain, approving Spain to set up a consulate general in Chengdu. Up to now, a total of 20 foreign countries have been approved to set up consular offices in Chengdu, ranking the third in mainland China and the first in the central and western China.

  With a consular district covering Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province, Yunnan Province and Chongqing City, Spain's consulate general in Chengdu is the third Spanish consulate in mainland China. By far, the number of Spain-invested enterprises in Sichuan has surpassed 30, including two Fortune Global 500 enterprises, and Sichuan has invested two projects in Spain. Sichuan has established sister province relations with Spain's Valencian Community, becoming the first among the provinces in western China, and has established friendly cooperation relations with Spain's Castilla–La Mancha.

  According to the head of the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province, Spain is an important friendly exchange and economic and trade cooperation partner of Sichuan Province in southern Europe. In recent years, Sichuan has been working to deepen its exchanges and cooperation with Spain in regional exchanges, trade and investment, automobile manufacturing, transportation and logistics, new energy, agricultural technology, tourism, convention and exhibition, etc.
