Overseas Investment: In 2021, Sichuan registered 80 newly
filed enterprises for overseas investment, a year-on-year increase of 25%,
while its outbound direct investment (ODI) reached USD 1.05 billion, decreasing
by 13.2%. Specifically, 6 enterprises were newly filed in December, when the
amount of the province's ODI was USD 110 million, up 83.3%. This ODI was mainly
used in leasing and commercial services, manufacturing and wholesale and retail
sectors. The top three countries (regions) absorbing Sichuan's ODI were Hong
Kong (China), Singapore and Australia. By the end of 2021, Sichuan had approved
and filed a total of 1,265 enterprises for overseas investment in 77 countries
or regions, and the cumulative ODI amount on record had reached USD 23.89
billion. The top five countries (regions) receiving Sichuan's ODI were Hong
Kong (China), Australia, Singapore, the United States and Germany.
Foreign project contracting and labor service cooperation: In
2021, the turnover of the province's foreign contracting projects touched USD
6.47 billion, an increase of 25%. In December, the completed turnover was USD
1.27 billion, up 67.1%. The newly signed foreign project contracts were worth
USD 9.04 billion, up 45%. These projects, mainly engaged in petrochemical
engineering, electric power engineering and transportation, were signed with
more than 80 countries or regions. The top five countries (regions) in terms of
the project contract amount were Ukraine, Bangladesh, Egypt, the Russian
Federation, Indonesia and Thailand. The province dispatched 6,955 labor workers
of various types, remaining basically the same compared with 2020. At the end
of the month, the number of workers abroad was 16,105. The top five countries
(regions) having labor service cooperation with Sichuan were Laos, Pakistan,
the Russian Federation, Indonesia and Israel.
